I still can’t believe that my little baby is going to be 1 year old this month. My heart shrinks every time I think about how fast time has gone by and how big my little one is getting. Sometimes when I’m in his room for bedtime, I squeeze him so hard because I know those moments will only last so long. My daughter Julianna still likes to cuddle before bed as we have our nightly “story time”, but it’s just different. It’s a different kind of cuddle. They’re still priceless, (don’t get me wrong), but it’s definitely not the baby snuggle that comes along with a yummy baby smell.
I’ve already thought of what I want to do for Rocco’s birthday. I want to do a small and intimate panda themed party. When Julianna turned 1, Joey and I went all out on making that day special. We did a Hawaiian themed birthday for her and even though it was so much fun and we took super cute pictures, we realized that it’s not worth doing all that much for their first birthday.
#1: they won’t even remember
#2: it can get expensive
For that reason, we’ll have family and our closest friends to celebrate with us.
Now that Rocco has 8 teeth, (4 on top and 4 on the bottom) I have been trying to give him a little more solid foods. Surprisingly (compared to my last “Mama Update” post), Rocco has come a long way with foods. He is now eating a little bit of pasta and banana and now he also eats yogurt. Yay Rocco!
My daughter is such a finicky eater that she only eats the same foods over and over again and there’s no way I have been able to introduce new foods to her menu. I get excited when Rocco is open to trying pretty much anything.
No signs of walking yet. He stands pretty easily but his balance is still off. We have tried giving him support so he tries to walk; however, once he notices that he’s on his own, he drops down to the floor and starts crawling. I’m OK with that. Every baby walks on their own time and terms. There’s no pressure from our side. Julianna walked when she was 14 months, so we’ll see when little Rocco takes his first steps.
